We are looking for a Jr. Python Software Engineer- Backend to work closely with other developers, data analysts, and underwriters to enhance our automated underwriting processes by leveraging real-time data and deploying internal services that deliver proprietary credit risk assessments to existing and potential customers.

Working primarily with Python/Postgres, the role will require extensive use of internal and external APIs to both obtain, store, and analyze data from a variety of sources, including bank accounts, background checks, and other publicly available information, and enabling other divisions in the company to access this using in-house internal REST services.

This position is fully remote; however, you will be required to work from 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Writing internal services to assist with processing card applications and ongoing underwriting.
• Writing new services to collect and process data from external vendors and public APIs
• Integrating new research from the data team into our production processes.
• Researching new technologies to implement on the current codebase
• Implementing enhancements and fixing issues in the existing codebase raised by front-end and underwriting teams.
• Writing ad-hoc scripts in order to bulk-process historical data.
• May be required to perform other tasks and duties reasonably related to job responsibilities.

Kualifikimet

Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; a Graduate degree in a relevant field a plus.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience.
• Good experience working with relational database systems, such as SQL Server/Postgres.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Good experience writing and deciphering code with AI agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex)
• Experience designing and developing APIs (preferably using Python/Flask).
• Good knowledge of standard system architectural patterns.
• Experience with the integration and the consumption of external REST/SOAP APIs.
• Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, preferably in Python.
• Good experience with Git and version control.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams.
• C1 Proficiency in English.

Shënime

Nice to have:

• Experience working with AWS (in particular, SQS, S3, and ECS).
• Familiarity with Docker/containerization.
• Understanding of CI/CD practices.
• Experience with Conductor OSS or other workflow orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with data processing and analysis using Pandas/Numpy.
• Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
